About Scout is Centerpiece Feature at the LA Women's Fest!

Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival Celebrates Centerpiece Feature Film About Scout

BURBANK, Calif., March 8, 2017 — The 13th annual Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival opens on Thursday, March 23 at 8:00 pm at the Regal Cinemas at LA Live in Downtown Los Angeles. Launched with a Gala and benefit screening of The Drowning, the program continues through Sunday, March 26, with features, documentaries, shorts and panels that educate and inform audiences about content development and distribution strategies.

This year’s centerpiece film About Scout directed by Laurie Weltz and produced by Beverley Gordon screens on Saturday, March 25 at 8:30 pm. The film features a break-out performance by its young lead, India Ennenga, who also shares screenwriting credit with a top-notch cast that also includes James Frecheville, Jane Seymour, Danny Glover and Ellen Burstyn. About Scout is a tale of polar opposites—a rebellious teenager from rural Texas, and a suicidal New Yorker—whose road trip through West Texas explores the bonds of sisterhood and the making of family.

The full festival program details are available at Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival web site:

The festival is produced by Diana Means, the Director of Programming at Alliance of Women Filmmakers. The Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival was founded in 2004 by the Alliance of Women Filmmakers (AWF) and serves as a platform for women filmmakers worldwide to share their unique stories and cultural experiences with Los Angeles' diverse audience.

Each year, the Festival partners with an organization that serves women to help generate awareness and raises money in support of women's causes. For 2017 AWF has partnered with Write Girl, a Los Angeles-based creative writing and mentoring organization that spotlights the power of a girl and her pen.
